We are Independent!

Today is the day;52 years ago, on this very same day, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj announced Malaya’s Independence Day from the British Colonial rule. "MERDEKA! MERDEKA!" could be heard.

On the other note; 3-day weekend be ending soon, seems so fast. I didn’t do much this weekend. Had dinner with family, dim sum for brunch with family as well, I think I slept my weekend away. It was such a cooling weather, because it had rain all morning and through out the day it was cloudy.

Here’s a comic to cheer you up in this wee hours of the night or morning (depending on how you look at it).I should be in bed now for this is a scheduled post, not every night I get cooling nights like this to fall asleep in. No, I don’t have an air condition; only my reliable standing fan to keep me cool. So I decided to go to bed and let the scheduled post do its work.

What did you do this for this 3-day weekend of yours? Did you enjoy it?

Before I end, with this I take the opportunity to wish Malaysia a

Happy 52nd Merdeka.

Encounter

I remember in the past years;

When I am at home in my room, I will always hear my mom call me but when I asked if she called, she would say no. It lasted for a very long time and even sometimes my mom would thought I call her. Could be our neighbors calling their family and we heard wrongly? Could it be just our imagination?

A Saturday evening, I was playing games on my computer. As time passes by, the night came close and my mom went to bed at about 10pm. My brother was still watching television downstairs. I was still playing game. At about 2am or so (yes I did play game until such a time... always a game addict), my brother went to bed. My room door was open then to let air ventilate around the room. As my brother turn off his room lights at about 2:30am, as usual we would usually hear all sorts of sounds coming from your living room or downstairs as all the things like the television cooling off, the refrigerator motor running, the sofa going back to its normal shape (especially those metal frame types because after sitting on it for a long time, it will be bend and once we get off it, it will make that creaking sound). So it was all usual…

Then suddenly, I heard the living room sofa being dragged on the marble floor!

My hair on my arms all stood up right. I WAS SO AFRAID! I closed my room door slowly and put on my headsets and crank up my music volume! What was it? Did I hear wrongly? Am I did only one who hear all this? I didn’t sleep that night! Only until the morning I went to bed.

From that day onwards, when I hear someone calling me; if my mom is home instead of answering her, I will ask her if she called me… but most of the time it isn't her. But a number of times, I was home alone and I would hear someone calling me. Of course I chose not to acknowledge it and went on playing my game.

One day, the calling got closer when I didn’t acknowledge it, and it was as though it was coming from the staircase a few steps from my room! I panicked for a bit then brought up my courage, walk out of my room, stood at the top of the staircase and shouted “THIS IS NOT YOUR PLACE TO BE! YOU ARE INTRUDING INTO SOMEONE'S HOUSE. NOW PLEASE GET OUT OF HERE!” and I went back into my room, closed my room door. I never heard of it anymore since.

I never thought I would be able to know that there is existence of spirits in my very own home. Usually I hear them in hotel rooms if I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom or something.

It is the 7th month of the Lunar Calendar now, where spirits get a vacation on our realm. The sofa dragging sound I heard, happened three years ago on the 7th month of the Lunar Calendar.

What would you do if you were in my situation? Who ya gonna call? The Ghostbusters? Haha!
Have you got your own experience of such encounter on the 7th month of the Lunar Calendar?

Cancer Survivor

I was reading reanaclaire's post Please Help Me to Help Him on a friend of hers who is diagnosed with cancer and read a comment by CheaHS@n and recommended reanaclaire to read a blog on a Cancer Survivor - Dr. Wu.

Eventually he survived and is going strong since then. I may not believe in vegan life but he made sense. But not that sure doesn’t mean I will go vegan. I will just eat more vegetables and fruits. Here is his testimonial - NATURAL HEALER : HOW DR. WU RID HIMSELF OF CANCER WITH VEGETARIAN DIET

Here is another blog that wrote about Dr. Wu - CANCER SURVIVOR DR. TOM WU’S RECIPE FOR GOOD HEALTH.
It includes a lot of other tips of methods of good health.

Here is one of it :
6. Drink a lot of water, in the correct way.

How much water you need to drink each day depends on your specific situation. If your office is air-conditioned, drinking six glasses of water a day is enough. If your work involves lots of walking, you have to drink 8-10 glasses a day. If you work under the hot sun, then 10-12 glasses of water are required.

The way you drink is also important. The correct way is to sip it little by little, to give your body cells time to absorb the water. If you drink the whole glass down at once, your cells can't absorb it all, and the water will be excreted as urine.

I never knew it should be done that way… and here all this time I have been drinking my water in whole lot of gulps! There are more on that blog check it out.
Oh so I found out that blood type O cannot eat vegetables for a long time haha.

7. Eat according to your blood type.

Your blood type determines what you should eat. Eating the wrong foods will make you sick.

People with blood type O have to eat a certain amount of meat. If they eat only vegetables for a long time, their body won't absorb all the substances they need to strengthen their immune system. The recommended diet for this group is 75% vegetables, 10% fruits, 10% meat, seafood and goat's milk (avoid cow's milk), and 5% grains.

People with blood type A, however should avoid milk and meat, while increasing grains and fruits. People with blood type B should also avoid meat, while those with blood type AB should avoid chicken and beef.

I am O blood… so means I was right not going vegan! But have to avoid cow’s milk… guess will try goat’s milk soon.

What do you think? Do you have any more tips to a healthy living?

Thank You, FoongPC

I got the souvenir foongpc sent me.

Picture taken from foongpc’s blog (my is really really blur and the color isn’t nice enough)

Thank you so much. I really like the stitching on the bag. Though I don’t know what to use it for now because I thought it would open up wide and I can actually put my mobile and wallet inside and carry one in all :P. But guess not now hahaha.

The bag came with a message in it!
Look at foong’s writing, so neat and nice for a guy! I am amazed! I hope foong don’t mind me posting his handwriting up for people to see.

He wrote my name so BIG on the envelope, no body opened my mail at all and this is the first time that happened to my mails that are sent to my office address. I didn’t take any picture of it for personal reasons.

Thank you foongpc for the souvenir and prize from China.

Edit in (time : 1511hours)
Any suggestions for what I can use it for now since it can't fit my wallet and mobile phone like I wanted it to at first? :P

Tapping Your Phone on THR.com

Let me know what you think because I am a little confuse on whether they require to get a hold of our mobile to install the software or not. But base on the investigation it seems like it does.

Edited in on 14th August 2009;
Looks like they do need acquire our mobile phone to install the software into our mobile. But it is a wonder if they can actually send a software claiming to be something bla bla and ask you to save, and when you save the software, they would of got it in. So please be wary of what you click save for and always keep your mobile at sight.

No Internet!

My office internet, STREAMYX, died at 1300hours, Wednesday, 12th August 2009;

Called TMnet to check on the problem; A lady (we shall name her R) took my call. As usual the basic troubleshooting is being asked to be done. She asked me a few questions; where one she was like repeating it and not letting ask anything!

R: How much PC is connected to the internet?
Me: Wh… (Interrupted by her with a repeating question)
R: How much PC is connected to the internet?
Me: Er about ten..
R: BERAPA PC SAMBUNG KEPADA INTERNET? (she shouted repeating the same question!)
Me: SEPULUH-LAH PEKAK! (and so I shouted TEN-LAH, DEAF!)

Silence…

Like what the hell? Let me speak before you shout! Sheesh…

How long does it take for them to come and take a look at the problem?
R: 2 working days.
Me: This internet is being use in an office and because the internet is dead, means my whole company’s internet is down.
R: Apa lubang? (what hole?)
Me: (started to get annoyed) this is a corporate, all pc in the company is connected to this internet, so since the internet is out, means it is affecting out business! So can you send someone over today?
R: It is 2 working days.
Me: You want to bare the lost of our business?
R: I try to send technician over.

Notice the “I try” means 2 working days… Geez! At the moment, of typing this in a Microsoft Word with no internet; annoyed, with a mind that isn’t letting me work because I am pissed… Can’t they even hire better Customer Service? I am 100% sure I press 2 for ENGLISH but I was transfer to one who “speaks” English but doesn’t understand English? What a joke!
Picture courtesy of Sock Monkey Princess

Why is our internet world being conquered by a company called TELEKOM and with millions or even billions of customers they are still not improving? If you can’t commit to the demands of your customers, don’t conquer the service, let other service provider in, that might show you that you need to buck up! Oh wait maybe that is why they don’t allowed other service provider in, because they are afraid!

When this is posted means the internet is back up. Yippee!

Aching

Went to a Chinese Doctor today because I think my sleeping posture cause me to have a sore shoulder that eventually the aching pain travelled down to my arm and leg on the left side of my body.Cost me RM103 to go get acupuncture from him and a medicine that taste like “Bak Kut Teh” without the bak kut haha.

This morning, my index finger and my thumb were painful and any pressure on it would make me want to cry. After visiting the Chinese doctor, the fingers are finally no longer painful. Only the shoulders now and the neck are slightly sore now. At least I can finally bend my arms to reach for my other arm… I couldn’t before.
The doctor said it could be accumulative of the wrong sleeping posture and stress. Here is what I wonder; I don’t think it is my sleeping posture; I blame my lousy mattress that is flat and slanted. I need a new bed… badly and a new pillow too! Haha.

It is finally raining! After a hot night; and a hot Saturday and Sunday; it is now raining very heavily at my place here. Be glad to go home and sleep tonight! Cold night means nice to sleep.
Here is a comic I found for a rainy time like this.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

Benjamin Button

Have you all seen “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”?
It is a really touching movie showed in the year 2008. This movie take place in the time after WWI in 1918; about a boy who was born an old man. Benjamin Button ages reverse, which means instead of growing old, he grows to younger and younger.

At the age of 10;
He looks like he is age 70 in a wheelchair with frail body and wrinkled skin. The story shows how Benjamin goes by his life as he ages younger.

Brad Pitt did a really good work in this movie! A definitely must watch movie.

Here is a trailer of the movie.

Here is a link that leads you to Wikipedia's summary of the story (spoiler ahead in summary) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (film).

Hope you enjoy it as much I do when you watch the movie. Let me know what you think.

Toasty

I made French Toast!In the evening for my family.
I know it looks burnt in the picture, but it really isn’t. Lousy camera haha!
Simple snack food or can be eaten for breakfast.

For 6 slices of bread;
3 eggs
2 teaspoons of sugar (if you prefer it sweeter a little more, not too much it isn’t good for your health)
And; margarine.

Family finished it on the same evening. Guess I didn’t fail at it haha. I ensure there was enough margarine to make the bread slightly crispier and saltier. I took a whole slice of bread myself and my mom took two slices! Better than my usual frying haha, my usual frying is usually burnt (looks exactly like the picture taken) and not enough egg to dip the bread in; and my family would usually end up not eating them :P.
