It was a good night...

Irodori Japanese Restaurant in Riverview Hotel Singapore.

Ala-Carte Buffet for S$33.00per pax.

Japanese Dolls at the entrance.

Oh I love these dolls they look so elegant and I like their cloths, so detailed, gorgeously stunning.

Time for us to roll in.

We placed our order; while we waited I decided to take some pictures.

The light above us;

The wasabi on the table smashed up by hubs haha!

Slowly the flow of the food came.
Complimentary Appetizer – Tomato in Special Sauce.
I am usually not a tomato fan, but this one sure made me eating. The tomato was sweet, and the special sauce brings out the tomato sweetness more.

Complimentary Appetizer – Tofu Salada.
Fresh tofu with cucumber and tempura bits with their special sauce. Tofu smooth sweet and the tempura bits blend really nice with it. When I put the tofu in my mouth it felt like it was melting inside... oh that sounded divine hehe.

Complimentary Soup.

Our order came;
The bundle of Sashimis.
Never fail to order Mekajiki and Sake Sashimi. Of course comparing to Ikoi where I went with my gamer friends last year in which I prefer because it was sweeter. This one fresh but slightly bland. Despite that, I still ordered more... I am a sucker for mekajiki.

Salmon Skin Temaki.
Crispy Salmon Skin wrapped in crispy fresh seaweed. Crunchy cucumber... oh what more can you more?

Cheesebaked Crayfish.
Another complimentary dish. The cheese was covering up the sweetness of the crayfish, but they cooked the crayfish well. Not too cooked not too raw. It was good.

California Maki & Salmon Maki.

Ebi Tempura.
The prawn was sweet but the batter too thick. I still like those from Ikoi.

Another Tofu Salada.
This one is covered in their special sauce with sprinkles of peanuts.

Chicken Yakitori.

Fried Gyoza.

Gyuniku Enoki Roll.
This picture is so blur... Too hungry I supposed :p.

Unagi and Tako Sushi.

Yasai Tempura.

Chawanmushi.
This one was a good chawanmushi. The egg tender was firm yet soft. The soup in the chawanmushi was tasty yummy~

Hubs and I have sake as well. The bottle was a cute one.
Look a hole in the middle for the ice to keep the sake chilled.

The cup of sake.

Hubs and I enjoyed ourselves that night. The food comparing to Ikoi, we both prefer Ikoi. But nevertheless, we still had a great night in Irodori.

Probably because it is not everywhere I can get Mekajiki in the buffet list and I had alot that night in Irodori. Hehe~

What is your favourite dish when it comes to Japanese food? Would you get lots of it if it is in the buffet list?

Dinner with "Yakisoba" people

During the 3-days weekend of Hari Raya Haji, I was in Singapore… and my last two post was me cooking for hubs :P. (oh yes I cook! Once in a blue moon!) But of course, we didn’t stay home all 3-days when I was there; we went out to meet up with some of the gamers of the current game I am playing now which is Atlantica Online. Another blogger Pikey is playing :D.

So when gamers gather, what do we talk about and do? We talk about game hahaa! :P. Of course we ate our dinner as well.

We went to Ikoi Japanese Restaurant, Miramar Hotel for Japanese buffet. The price is S$33++ per pax.

Chawanmushi

This is firm and not like a lot of places I have eaten that is watery and it has a whole prawn inside (peeled, head and tail gone).

Assorted Sashimi

Oh this is heavenly! They got Mejajiki too! That is my favorite sashimi!

Mejajiki Sashimi

So of course since I am allowed to order Mejajiki on its own, I did not hesitate to order more! I think I ordered like 4-5 plates of this. Oh it was so sweet… yummy!

I know some of you my readers don’t take raw food, so I apologized for it but no fret! I got cooked food to show too!

Assorted Tempura

The Ebi Tempura prawn is fresh prawn! Not oily, crispy on the outside, succulent on the inside! Oh delicious! Of course without fail, everyone at the table ordered like probably about 40-50 more pieces of those!

Complimentary Hotpot

I am not sure if it is a hotpot… but oh this is sweet! The put the salmon bones in it to boil… the soup was so nice! I took all the Straw Mushrooms :P. I love those!

Yakisoba

This came very late after we ate so many other things! They keep getting our order wrong and bringing the cold soba! Weird! Haha! But we had to try this even if were full! Why? Because in the game this is our guild name :P. Now you know why the title of this post ^_^.

There are a lot more of the other foods that I forgot to take a picture of such as Chicken Yakitori, the pregnant fish thing that I don’t know its name and don’t eat, fried rice that came in a really small bowl but was oh so delicious, and etc etc :P. We didn’t order everything in the menu of course… I was attacking the Mejajiki I forgot about the rest! This place has no beef in their menu. They got sake too, but that is part of the ala-carte menu and not the buffet.

Well, I can’t post up the group picture, not right to do so when I do not have their permission :/. So I shall keep that to myself. I hope you are not drooling by now over the food above. I know I am! Dangit! Now I want Mejajiki and Ebi Tempura.

Next up – Macaroni and Cheese (ah yes more food post XD).

Ala-Carte Style Sushi Buffet

Friday, 1st May 2009, evening;

My fiancé and I went out to meet friends for dinner at Minori in UE Square. Minori is an Ala-Carte Style Sushi Buffet restaurant. For the price of S$36++ per person they have over 100 of varieties to choose from. Of course we didn’t order much that night. We ate the same thing over and over again lol.

Took us some time to decide what to have and so we decided;
Assorted Raw Fish – Sashimi Moriwase
Mejajiki Sashimi – Raw Swordfish, is complimentary for the first Sashimi Moriwase ordered. Ooooh I love Mejajiki Sashimi and I regret not ordering enough portion of Sake Sashimi. It was like I forgot all about it.

I ordered three types of Sushi – (L-R) Sake Wasabi Mayo, Tamago Sushi, Mejajiki SushiI ordered the Tamago to see how the quality is. I was told if we want to know if a Sushi Chef is good, eat the Tamago and if when you bite it, it doesn’t fall apart, then it is good. And of Course my all-time favorite Mejajiki.

Eel – UnagiI didn’t eat this, cause I don’t take eel like this o.O but my friends order a number of this.

Salmon Head Teriyaki – Sake Teriyaki (I am not sure lol)This was a complimentary dish for the night.

Fried Prawns – Ebi TempuraYummy! I love this! Though my friend said it is quite tasteless. You know I never knew what the radish was for that always comes with Tempura. I found out from my fiancé sometime ago that it is meant to be in the sauce (what it is called) to bring out the flavor (I think lol. So I forgot exactly what he told me). I had quite a share of this.

Grilled Pork Belly with Garlic Seasoning – Buta To GarlicI find this so-so. Somehow the pork was not sweet enough and the garlic wasn’t strong enough. Tasteless in my opinion.

Beef with Special Sauce – Gyuniku ShogayakiThis would have been nice if it wasn’t all salty honestly. I ate this too during my trip last year, and it was delicious then. Chef for this is in a “ham sap” mood this time? That or salt went down on price.

Cold Buckwheat Noodle – Zaru SobaThis one was quite refreshing to me. After all the raw, grilled, fried and etc; this one was something light and tasted well down the throat.

Peach Fresh Green Salad – Momo SaradaPeach was from canned peach I assumed as it was sweet, VERY sweet. The salad was uhm… I don’t recommend this.

Overall, I would say their quality dropped. But of course comparing to KL Japanese Buffet, this is still better. I am still regretting that I did not order enough Sake Sashimi… My favorite raw seafood of course coming only after Mejajiki Sashimi. How could I have forgotten to order more of that? T_T

The price converting back to ringgit would be RM86.40 (based on S$36 before tax). Of course it looks costly to us but if looking at 1 for 1, it is way cheaper than any Japanese Buffet here. Furthermore this one is Ala-Carte. They only cook it when you order. Fresh yummmy~ Ok I want Sake Sashimi and Ebi Tempura now -_-;

After the Buffet, we all went for drinks and chit-chat. In the next blogging session…
