They Gone Home

Today it’s everywhere in the news;

Our King of Pop is gone. Michael Jackson passed away.

“LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the "King of Pop" and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50.
Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in Holmby Hills…” (Michael Jackson Dies in LA Hospital)

Every radio station, news stations are talking about his death. I have always listened to his songs since I was young, he was a great pop singer.

Farrah Fawcett have also return Home on Thursday due to cancer.
“LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Farrah Fawcett has died after a long battle with cancer, Access Hollywood has confirmed.
Farrah died at 9:28 AM on Thursday at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif…” (Farrah Fawcett Dies at 62)Farrah Fawcett our original Charlie's Angels star. Well, i never watched her in Charlie's Angels. Was too young to understand TV then.

At the same time, my director’s mother passed away today too. Some of my colleagues and superiors are going over there now.

My Condolences to those who have lost the people they loved today. They are now in a better place.

Failed Carbonara Chef

Instead of blogging about my Beef session in Singapore, I would like to share my experience of me cooking Angel Hair Carbonara for the very first time. Those who know me well enough knows I dislike cooking and for those who don’t, well now you know haha.

I was eating Fettuccini Carbonara for lunch one day and was watching how this person was cooking it. So I was thinking “Hey that is easy! I can try it myself.” Was in Carrefour with my family on Saturday evening, since I was there, I bought Cream – Payson Breton Cream.

Sunday came;
Ingredients set out to be cooked.Here we have the Egg, Cream in the box still, Angel Hair in the Pot and Sausages.

Not to forget:Onion and Garlic diced, Salt, Parmesan Cheese (I don’t have a lot of this sadly), of course some Olive Oil (I had to use Corn Oil because I ran out of Olive Oil, Butter is even better if you have salted types) and the rest was shown before that bowl is the cream and egg blended in.

Salt, Onion and Garlic diced close-up
Parmesan Cheese close-up
I would have taken the process of the whole cooking, but I forgot where I left my camera phone haha. But being the first time, I was in such a panicky feeling I would have forgotten anyway if I had my camera phone nearby anyway haha.

The outcome of me cooking Carbonara for the time:Looks presentable, but I think I cooked the Angel Hair too long haha. It felt soggy and note to self, no egg in cream next time, made the whole dish tasted flaky and too creamy and no using Angel Hair; it didn't taste as good as normal Spaghetti (that or it is just me :P). I also forgot to add some salted butter to the Angel Hair before drowning it in the sauce haha. I sure failed big time! Next time, I am going to try with bacon instead of sausages or maybe both.

Singapore Trip - Dessert Bar

Singapore Trip, 5th June 2009, Friday evening;

Fiancé and I went out to meet up with his friend for dinner at Holland Village Market and Food Court. Didn’t manage to take the pictures of the food I ate there. So sorry, I guess I am still too new at this whole picture blogging thing haha.

Being his birthday, his friend bought him a cake from Swissbake.
This cake was so full of chocolate and it was too sweet in my opinion. I was told it was Raspberry Chocolate Cheese Cake (or something like that)… and I didn’t taste any cheese in it at all. So I went to check in their website for it… Chocolate Romance was what I found; exactly the same cake and my fiancé confirms it is the same one. I don’t even see any cheese in the ingredient haha. Duped… The funny part is his friend is a guy, and bought my fiancé a Chocolate Romance cake haha! Aweee, how romantic (so going to get hit by my fiancé for this) haha.

After dinner and dessert at the food court, we left to go 2am Dessert Bar to wait for my fiancé friend’s wife.

The ambience is very nice and relaxing.Good for people who is there for wines and all. By the side they got the bar and the other side is long couch thing for people to lift their leg up and sit like their at home. Didn’t manage to get the picture of those seats, too many there and I doubt they would want their picture taken haha. You can check their place out at their website. Click Gallery > The Bar > Bar Photo 3 and it will shows you the couch thing. The Mrs. arrived; we ordered:

Fried CalamariVery fresh Calamari, very nice tartar sauce too. It was crispy and delicious.

Selection of 3 Ice CreamsFrom left to right: Fruit of the forest Sorbet – This one was sweet and sourish. It was like all in one. Orange Blossom – this one tasted like flower tea not too bad. Blood Orange – Sourish all I can say. I liked the Orange Blossom the best. Everyone else prefers the rest haha. I am just weird or nicely worded, unique haha.

SGD23 DessertWould you take this dessert if it cost SGD23.00 only for this?
Haha... just kidding! This is just a chocolate biscuit from the ice cream we had. But imagine if it is really SGD23.00 for this only... you have to make sure it is coated in gold before you order it then haha.

After that we went to watch Night At The Museum 2.I find the first one funnier compared to this. I couldn’t laugh as much as I did to the first one though the Giant Squid and the Cherubs are funny hehe. This ends this entry.

Next up – Beef!

Saturday Movie Outing, Sushi Lunch

Saturday, 13th June 2009;

My girlfriends and I went to Sunway Pyramid for movie. We bought tickets for Monster vs. Aliens for time 4:00pm. Then we went to have lunch. Sushi Zanmai was our destination (yep we always love sushi… and always end up gong back to Sushi Zanmai for it lol).

We sat by a table by the belt. Took some sushi from the belt, I don’t know what they are named but it was delicious.This one was meant to be 4 pieces a plate; friend was too hungry so she took them already lol. But this was an Ebi sushi with Mayo and ebiko on top. The ebi was fresh and sweet, it was good.

This is Salmon sushi with a sauce that tasted like bacon sauce. The taste of bacon was delicious, but covers the salmon taste (mind you I don’t know if it was even bacon lol just tasted like it to me :P).

Soft Shell Crab Maki.

Always a favor among us. The Soft Shell Crab is crispy and the sweetness just linger in the mouth.

Salmon Ikura and Chuka Ikado.

The Salmon Ikura was of course mine, my friends don’t enjoy Ikura, but yummy! The Ikura and Salmon blended so well together, both of the sweetness really got me… I wanted more! I didn’t take the Chuka Ikado so I can’t comment lol.

Salmon Sashimi.Never miss it for the world. I love Raw Salmon yummy!

Soft Shell Crab.Guess we are crazy for Soft Shell Crabs… now lets hope it don’t go extinct because of us lol.

Gyuniku Enoki Roll.Golden Mushroom wrapped in Beef. This dish is delicious, of course I love beef and golden mushrooms so… you know :P.

Ebi Tempura.Yummy yummy! The prawn is sweet! Even being in tempura, I still taste the sweetness.

Unadon.My friend decided for rice today with Unagi. It was so-so in my opinion… maybe because I am not a person to take bowls of rice when I am in a Sushi place.

Ebidon.My other friend wanted rice too o_o! What is with rice? Lol.

Yukimi Daifuku.Now this is one delicious dessert. The sweetness of the rice skin and vanilla ice cream, but make sure you all don’t order inside Sushi Zanmai. Buy it from Shinkojoya (or I think it is spelt like that, but you know the jap shop that can be found beside every Sushi Zanmai lol). Because in the restaurant it is selling for RM8.00 but outside is RM5.90. I was dupe. I ordered insdie because the last time I bought dessert from the shop, they did not have it. To my horror, this time round they do have it and way cheaper too.

After lunch, we went out of Sunway Pyramid and headed to PiCasso to try on some wedding gowns. Was meant to be there to look for a simple evening gown for my R.O.M. ended up trying wedding gowns lol.
On my way there I saw this!What? We are in China?! And there are this kind of phonebooth in China?! LOL. Ok it isn't Parisign uses this phonebooth to promote their signage.

Then to the cinema! Popcorns check! Drinks check! Tickets check! Ok Monster vs. Aliens here we come!The cinema was filled with parents and kids. Monsters vs. Aliens was hilarious. I especially like B.O.B. he is way adorable! Dr. Cockroach’s evil laughter is still stuck in my head. It is recommended to watch! We didn’t go for 3-D because my friend is wearing spectacles and the other is having a headache. Someone tell me if 3-D is good if you do watch it. I watched my in Digital screen. Very nice. This wraps up this entry.

Will continue on my Singapore trip next.

Going 6 Months

Entry non-related to my trip to Singapore;

It is June now; soon half a year would have pass by in a blink of eye. So far my resolution went down the drain. I was supposed to lose weight (and every year too) but it failed up to now. Instead I think I am just gaining weight. With the R.O.M. coming soon, I doubt I can find a good dress for my body.

I have been stressful about the R.O.M. been worrying myself sick thinking we will not get things done in time. Stressful on why I am unable to land job in Singapore, what would happen after the R.O.M.? All this stress has cause me to grind my teeth at night. I didn’t realize I was in stress at first… when I notice before I fall asleep, my teeth are preparing for grinding. Not sure if I grind my teeth when I sleep or if it is loud or not, but I sure hope it doesn’t blunt my teeth anymore further.

With the weather so hot lately, I have been falling behind on my sleep durations too. Skin is showing signs of tiredness, my mind too! Sluggish, uncertainties of what I am doing this whole day at all, could not even type this entry right…

Overall, I have not done what I need to do, as mentioned above my resolution went down the drain.

Have you done what you need to do this year? Have you managed to achieve your resolution?

Sun, Water and Food

Last weekend I went to Singapore again from 4th June evening to 7th June evening, to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday and also supposedly to be planning for the R.O.M. that we might have end of this year. But due to the lack of time we didn’t manage much at all.

On the 5th June 2009, we went swimming in the afternoon and the Civil Defence Club.
See that is my reflection in the sunglasses.

This is the pool.And the lifeguard on the left side of the picture. I got minor sunburn and of course that tan lol.

We had our lunch there but were too hungry so we forgot to take pictures of the meal.
We managed the aftermath of the beef bolognaise spaghetti.It was delicious even though it was microwave but I guess someone pre-cooked it and refrigerate it to be microwave after for food by the pool because for normal microwave spaghetti it would not taste so good. I especially loved the Smoked Salmon with Cream Spaghetti (or something like that) because the cream sauce was yummy.

We also had a slice a Blueberry Pie.It was also yummy.

But guess after the swimming session of four laps, I replenish back with the food I ate there lol. So much for exercise.

Next entry – dessert café.

Dinner, My Treat

Dinner with my family in Summit Shopping Complex at USJ on Sunday; 31st May 2009, dinner was my treat.

I decided to bring them to Black Canyon Coffee.It is said their Thai food and coffee is good. I don’t drink coffee so anyone can tell me?

I ordered an Orange Frost.Mom ordered a Watermelon Frost and brother an Orange Juice. Don’t have the pictures, it was really blur.

Mushroom Soup.Complimentary soup when we order the steaks. Give three choices Cream of Chicken Soup, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Cream of Corn Soup.

All three of us ordered the Black Canyon Beef Steak.This is my Beef Steak.
I ordered it medium raw.I am still able to see redness of blood in the beef steak. Yummy! When I cut it open, the blood was seeping out.

The bill total came up to RM109.00, of course it does sound costly but was the time spent with the family; priceless. I had a good dinner with my family. Well, part of my family. I enjoyed the evening.
