Home Cooked : Fried Rice

During the Hari Raya Haji 3-day weekend, I went to Singapore to spend some time with hubs. He wanted to eat my fried rice again, so I cooked for him.

This are the ingredients for our fried rice.
Rice – 2 and ½ cup for three persons.

Shoulder Ham, Onion, Garlic and Eggs.

Sliced ham, Beaten Egg, Diced Onion and Garlic.

The diced onions and garlic are the first to go in :P.

I always like this part hence the only cooking process I took a picture of (well, hubs was the camera man haha).

Hubs decided to help on the cooking too so he helped flip the rice so it wouldn’t burn.

My fried rice.

Well, not much of the process explanation here nor picture of the process! We were so busy cooking! Hahaha! So what do you think? Does it look good? Does it make you want to eat it :P?

Stay tune! I made Macaroni Fruit Salad too!

Fried rice are the best! Especially if you have a lot of ingredients to go with it :)

Hey you know, as far as friend rice is concerned,i once discovered that even as simple dish as fried rice, there are so many secrets to frying the nice one.

once,my frien showed me how to separate the egg from the rice first, how i show sprinkle some water once it is fried, and never fry rice in big amount.

and you know, when you have fried rice, try to go with a cup of hot hot punya KOPI O,i tell you to me, that's heaven.

I remember when i was small,we we were poor, our fried rice only consisted of garlic, egg and some spring onion, no ham, no luncheon meat,no prawn ,,hahah but it all tasted very nice cos i was a happy child

Such HUGE slices of ham? Isn't it expensive in S'pore? Costs a bomb here! Well, watch out for my post on my ham and mushroom pie tomorrow! Hehehehehehe!!!!

conan_cat said...

lina said...

like Eugene, I remember when I was small, I used to eat fried rice simply fried with a little bit of ikan bilis and some cili padi, and we were happy.

wenn said...

haha..i just had fried rice for dinner..very simple..just fried with eggs..

foongpc said...

I love fried rice!! So lucky your hubby get to eat your fired rice!

foongpc said...

Can you cook the fried rice and courier to me? Hehe

foongpc said...

Normal white rice I limit myself to just one small bowl. Fried rice I don't limit myself! Haha!

Kelvin said...

hmmm...actually u no need to put both the red onions and garlic. No point and they snatch the role of each other.

Try frying the ham 1st. There is oil in it. Use the oil to fry the rice 1st. Then use butter for the red onions and the egg. Mix them together^^

hahaha, do i sound like a chef?

Kelvin said...

And u can use bacon instead of ham. There is more oil in it:) Always use the natural oil from food rather den cooking oil.

I just can't stop when talking about cooking:D

Ayie said...

Hmmm hubby is starting to enjoy your cooking now! Nice to know you're doing that for him =) I have to wake up early everyday to prepare breakfast for hubby before going to work and sometimes he brings lunch too.

iamthewitch said...

Oh I love fried rice too! When do I get to try yours? :P But I find cooking fried rice a bit tough, because the rice always sticks to the wok base, even though I keep flipping them! :(

Jean said...

fried rice wit ham very nice

A smile from SJ =)

ladyviral said...

Kucing : Left over? No more.. hubs took it all :P

ladyviral said...

Eugene : I know those simple fried rice. I used to have my fried rice with nothing but egg :). It is always nice.

Fried rice with Kopi O? Now that is something new :P.

ladyviral said...

SK : Fried it .. and send it with us haha! Remember to invite me over... and maybe foong too and probably everyone else since every one seems to like it! haha!

ladyviral said...

suituapui : you see the price? SGD1.90. I think this is the cheap ham :S. It was kind of tasteless also.

Omg PIE! I want! Courier to me can? ^_^.

ladyviral said...

conan : Fried rice? :P Easy to cook as long as there is left over rice from yesterday.

ladyviral said...

lina : My mom used to cook fried rice just with egg for me :P. I swear my husband is lucky to have ham haha!

ladyviral said...

wenn : It is indeed! I love fried rice... simple is as good too! ^_^.

ladyviral said...

foongpc : Haha! Well, he is lucky indeed :P I told him that! Especially since I barely cook, he is lucky I did haha!

Courier to you? I fear the courier guy might finish it before it reaches it :P.

I limit myself on normal rice too, but when it comes to fried rice... oh I cannot resist either :P.

ladyviral said...

Kelvin : I don't know I always prefer the garlic and onion fragrant together :).

Frying the ham first? Oh that sure make sense... using the natural oil from the ham... good idea :). Guess we have to remove the ham before putting in the rice? Else ham go burn burn :P. I will try that next time ^_^.

ladyviral said...

Ayie : I m lazy really... I know he is just testing the water to try to make me cook! Hahaha! But he knows I barely cook, so he is lucky when I do :P.

Your hubs is lucky. You cook for him all the time ^_^.

ladyviral said...

witch : Lower down the fire a little when flipping them... it really takes alot of flipping... I always end up having a sore hand after!

Try my fried rice... erm... wait I master it first :P.

ladyviral said...

SJ : Thank you ^_^. You had fried rice too? :P

Ayie said...

fufu said...

ops...i think you need to cook more often... because by looking at the pictures...i am already losing my appetite >< or the aroma is great?? :)

ladyviral said...

Mariuca : Uh oh... since you going to start a diet... I think you should stay away! But then again, it would be good to test your willpower too :P. Why? Cause I will be having more food post soon! Good luck in your diet and of course remember to bring home tons of NY pictures ;).

I wanted to use sausages, but MIL don't like sausages... so I had to resort to ham :P.

ladyviral said...

vialentino : Thanks for coming by here ^_^.

Ah yes fried rice.. yummy :P. I love them too, I always take a lot when it comes to fried rice! Thanks for the compliment ^_^.

ladyviral said...

Tes : hi Tes! Oh lucky it is lunch time, else I would be making naother hungry in the middle of nothing near meal time :P.

ladyviral said...

Pikey : Thanks alot, Pikey. Yea the Ham is cheap! Unlike here, would probably cost like RM10 already... But it was a tad too tasteless though :/.

ladyviral said...

Ayie : YM works for msn too :P. I haven't use my YM in ages! The same email as YM?

ladyviral said...

Fufu : Ar?! Losing your appetite >.< does that mean it looks lousy? :S

But then again I do need to cook more! I am really lousy at it hahaa! But so dislike cooking... so lazy @.@

levian said...

you know what i am saying! you ain't gonna run away not giving us a chance to imagine the both of you going lovey dovey there in the kitchen. well, that could happened during the cleanups to, couldn't it? :p

RoseBelle said...

I can never fry rice using a wok. The rice ALWAYS STICKS!!! So therefore I use non-stick pans. I know, and everyone tells me but I just can't get it right, that is to make sure the wok is hot and have enough oil so the rice won't stick. You know, maybe I need a good wok. It's hard to find good woks but I'm sure our Chinatown would have something nice. Nice looking fried rice :)

Mariuca said...

Thanks sweetie, 2nd day BD huhuhuhu... gonna make myself a nice salad later..trying to avoid rice at all cost! :(

ladyviral said...

levian : That is really only your imagination :P. Really nothing happened! XD

ladyviral said...

Rose : I don't cook with much oil... i just make sure I waste no time not flipping them! Burning some will get it... but what is fried rice without some little burnt rice? :P

ladyviral said...

Mariuca : I can't wait to move in with my husband :P. At least there I can diet easier... he won't force me to eat things I don't want... nore make me feel bad if I don't take something... unlike my mom T_T.

sunnymama said...

Mmm, more yummy stuff from Ladyviral :)

levian said...

really Really? really really Really? :p ah dang, i am hungry right now. seeing the rice (n the fruit macaroni, n the japanese food!) makes me hungry. should have had more for breakfast instead of just 汤圆. :p

ladyviral said...

sunnymama : Hahaha.. well, I found this tasteless :P

ladyviral said...

levian : Ooooh Tang Yuan! I had to get my colleague to read that chinese character for me hahaa! :P.

Pete said...
