Another Visit...

Yesterday I went to see the doctor again since my nose started to act up and my cough have worsen every night.

Doctor asked a lot of questions;

Conversation with the doctor :
Doctor : Do you travel by MRT to work?
Me : No I stopped working, haven’t used the MRT since.

Doctor : Why is your body resistance very weak?
Me : *laughed*
(er… shouldn’t you be telling me why, doc? I thought to myself)

Doctor : You have seen the doctor *flips through my card* December, January, March, April, June, July, August and now…
Me : Er… some of those are mostly stomach discomfort
(feeling like some stupid kid... I think the doctor thinks I am refusing to go to work.)

Doctor : Why not try to avoid using the MRT for 2 months and see how it goes?
Me : I have not been taking the MRT since I stopped working…
Doctor : Oh, you are resting now
(Yea duh what I said earlier. Were you listening?)
Me : In between jobs.

Doctor : Avoid going near or touching any dogs or cats.
Me : That is going to be hard… there is a cat that stays in the house 24 hours a day.

Doctor : What? Cats are the most dangerous creature. Especially their saliva; it has a lot of bacteria and viruses. Since you used to be asthmatic, their fur is very critical to you.
(silence….)

Doctor : Ok so you don't need a MC right?
Me : No.
(seriously this doctor wasn't listening -_-;;)

Ok so what should I do? Hubs and I can’t even get it to my MIL’s head that the cat shouldn’t be in the house at all! I told my husband about it, I know it is hard for him… but he got to try. I really don’t want to keep seeing the doctor and relying on medications like this especially since now that I am spending more time at home than I am out of it, I can’t be sick for so long.

Let’s hope MIL will understand but I have this very heavy doubt it will happen. If the cat still stays in the house, I might just have to think of something else…

Any suggestions?

what doctor is that?? asking all the stupid questions.. but never tell what's the root problem and suggest what to do..

[SK] said...

while he thinks you tried not to go to work, i think he is just trying to issue MC for money, hahahaha~~ :D

[SK] said...

well, just have to talk to your MIL i guess she will be understanding..

or maybe the nickname "ladyviral" is not good for you, haha, too many virus~~ perhaps shall call yourself "ladyhealthy".. :D

SK : Hahaha I have no idea... a normal GP it seems... but maybe he just is concern I don't know XD

Issue MC can get money? O.o Or you mean just issuing a MC then say "ok you can go now" :p

Hubs told MIL yesterday, she said nothing and today the cat is still in the house -_-;;

Actually having the cat in the house is not wrong, but she just needs to clean it more, and brush it more to prevent the cat hair from falling and to avoid allergens sticking to the cat. But guess she doesn't know it.

Hahaha! You know I have thought of before too XD. "ladyviral" and yet I am the one with all the virus and not effecting anyone haha!

Oh dear. So how? If the issue is not resolved, then you'll have the symptoms with you all year long! That can't be good. :(

I guess your MIL loves the cat too much to do anything about it?

ladyviral said...

lina : I guess it will be that way. That or we will have to throw the cat out :(. But I doubt MIL will allowed that to happen.

I don't know if she really loves the cat that much. She doesn't even brush it, shower it...

Sighs... I don't know what to do too. :(

A hard question. I think is best that your hubi talk to your MIL instead of you voicing it out. Otherwise it would create tension.

Ahem ahem...a naughty idea here...why not each time the cat comes near you, you cough loudly in front of MIL ah...maybe she will get the hint...:p

ladyviral said...

Kucing : I told hubs to talk to MIL. He did yesterday hehe. But nothing happened -_-;; the cat is still in the house.

Hahaha!I tried that tactic before. Even sneezing and coughing! Didn't work... that was even before the cat stayed in the house 24 hours a day... imagine she had the nerve to say "Keep the ca tin the house temporary because she is sick..." Er... sick? Now more than a year already haha!

Haha!! OK just kidding! I guess u got to explain to your MIL about your condition and the cat is the cause. If that doesn't work, then just kill the cat! LOL!!

foongpc said...

But are you really sure the cat is the cause in the first place? This doctor does not sound very reliable hahaha!! Maybe you should go for a second opinion. The cause may just be.....surprise.....your MIL!!!!! Hahahaha!!!XD

foongpc said...

OK, jokes aside, I hope you find a solution to this ASAP and get well soon! : )

Jus sharing a bit here. Once my dog wanted to bite a cat which had wandered into our hse compound. Mrs BB came to the rescue and the cat in a panic bit her. The bite made her ill for about a week. It was that bad. Mrs never goes near a cat now.

foongpc : Killing the cat? I thought of it lots of times! hahaha!

Sadly, I think the cat might be the cause because I used asthmatic, even my previous doctor mentioned that I would be much seneitive to dogs and cats and a googled did show me that cat's fur contains a lot of allergens, only way is to clean the cat regularly.

But you know, it might my MIL I don't know! hahaha!

Thanks alot. Lets hope I find the cause soon too :D.

ladyviral said...

BengBeng : Oh my, that is bad. But you know when the doctor mentioned that cat's saliva have more bacteria and viruses, i am not surprised, since their fur will carry way much more allergens when not showered regularly, the cats do lick themselves clean, hence those allergens would stick to their tongue too.

I think I should stay away from cats too. Since I moved to Singapore only have I encountered this stuffs. :(

Yes, since young,I've been told that cats are bad for asthmatic people - the fur. Do you open your doors and windows everyday? Do you clean regularly? I read somewhere about "sick houses" - stale air, poor ventilation, all the dust, the invisible mites in beddings and everything - all can cause illness. You will fall/feel sick if you stay home - ok when you're outside, up and about.

ladyviral said...

suituapui : Yes, eventually because their fur are fine and goes into the airways too easily and irritates it.

The room window is open daily, and I usually ventilate the room. As for cleanning it is done once a week. Kind of gets tiring if I were to do it everyday. I might go crazy too if I do so, because each time after i clean, MIL will make a mess after -_-;;.

that doesn't sounds good. the cat is most likely the root problem to your health woes.

ladyviral said...

Life Ramblings : Most likely to be too. But sad part I don't know how to go about it... I was thinking of putting the permanently in my MIL's room. But... sighs... It is hard :(.

Hello LadyViral,

Thanks for dropping by my blog. I seriously thought you have stopped blogging since you moved to Singapore.

You're not well? So sorry to hear that. If only what the doctor said was true, then you'll be fine soon. But then, being away from your cat? That's sad...

Get well soon yeah?

Lee said...

Hi Lady Viral, ha ha, you sure that doctor not an 'L' license? You're right, he should be telling you instead of asking.....
Or he has hearing problems.....

Fortunately he didn't tell you, "congratulations, you going to have a baby"! Ha ha ha.
Have a nice day.
Lee.

Willie : Well, technically I was so busy I didn't have time to blog!

But now that I am in between jobs, I started blogging again :D. Lets hope the next job will allowed me more time to blog too.

I thought you stopped blogging because your old link was not updating in my blogroll. hehe..

ladyviral said...

Uncle Lee : I seriously thought so too! hahah!

Oh my, if he told me "Congratulations you are pregnant!" I would cry! Not for joy but for fear! I know it is a good thing, but heck not at this point of time... but imagine telling me that before checking anything else! hahaha!

Mostly its the fur of the cat how about investing in a good vacuum cleaner which I heard could get rid of dust mite and stubborn dust.

ladyviral said...

Bananaz : Like those steam vaccuum? It is really expensive though :(.

Caroline said...

OMG?! Kidding me?? better get off from the cat dearie. :( or maybe put it outside hse or in the cage instead of letting the cat go here n thr around the house? :(

ladyviral said...

Caroline : Told MIL that, but she refuses to put the cat into the cage -_-;; the cat is still wandering around the house like a free bird~

So I told MIL that she has to shower the cat once a week. if she don't do it, i am putting it in the cage myself -_-.

Hello there. Blog hopping.

Find this very funny post (the doctor part), as for the cat, you got to do something since it affects your health. Either the cat out or you out from the house. :)
